-
Can I pickup my bib number prior to the race?
As of now, there is no scheduled pre-race packet pickup for this race. Bib numbers and timing chips
can be picked up the morning of the race.
-
You mentioned a timing chip. What is that?
We use the ChampionChip timing system to time our races. After you have picked up your bib number,
you will need to get a yellow timing chip. It will have a number corresponding to your bib number.
-
How do I use the timing chip?
You can use a zip tie or your shoelace to attach the chip firmly to your shoe. When you finish
the race, volunteers will help remove the timing chip from your shoe. If you do not return the chip,
you will need to reimburse the club $35 for the timing chip.
-
Do I also get a t-shirt?
The entry fees apply to the race. Unless you paid a separate fee for a t-shirt, you will not get one.
You may purchase a t-shirt at the race. We have one t-shirt for the entire series
-
What time does the registration begin the morning of the race?
5:30 AM
-
What time does the race start?
We start the clock at 6:30 AM. Unlike the first race, this race has a mass start.
-
Are there awards at these races?
Each race has age group awards. Additionally, there is a summer series grand prix with series awards
distributed at the September 13, 2009, Arizona Racers I-Did-A-Green Run.
-
What's the summer series grand prix?
Each race, a runner accumulates points based on the first person in their category or age group. You
have to compete in four races to qualify for the series ending awards. If you run five races, we'll
drop the lowest score.
-
Where can I find the point standings?
You can find both the point standings and the results at
www.arizonaroadracers.com/Results/summerseriespoints_2009.html
-
How are the points determined?
They are based on the how the first person in the particular classification finished. The top finisher
earns 1000 points. For example, in race #1, Sara Slattery was the first female finisher with a time of
16:47. She earns 1000 points. Sara's time equates to 1007 seconds. The second finisher, Magaly Burciaga
ran in a time of 18:34 (or 1114 seconds). If you divide 1007 by 1114 and then multiply the result by
1000, you will come up with a result of 903.949. The software doesn't round the result. So, Magaly's
point total is 903 points. Therefore, while you may not be the first to finish in your age group, it is
important to run as fast as possible.
