August 31, 2008 (SUNDAY) Jerome Hill Climb
Start time: 8:00 AM
This year the Jerome Hill Climb will be held on Sunday instead of Monday. We hope that this helps
some people who want to avoid the traffic on Monday and who will be up there on Saturday doing the
Chino Valley Territorial Days 10k and want to make a race weekend of the holiday. The artwork on the
t-shirts this year is designed by Anne Bassett, a local artist from the town of Jerome. Her
artwork can be viewed on her website
http://www.jeromeartistannebassett.com/.
The overall awards are pottery made and painted by local artists, David Hall and Jane Moore from
Jerome Pottery, http://www.madeinjerome.com/. We
hope this year will be as fun as last year, the weather has been very good to us in the past and is
a nice change from the desert heat. The course is still challenging and interesting as it starts at
the Jerome Historical Museum and winds up and through the streets of Jerome to a dirt road past the
Gold King Mine and ends at a gorgeous view of Sedona in the distance. There is plenty of food and
refreshments at the finish while you enjoy the views. Parking is limited in Jerome so we ask that you
plan accordingly and give yourself enough time to park in the main parking lot and jog to the start
line (approx 1 mile downhill). There is absolutely no parking or dropping off at the start line. The
registration is in the parking lot so you have to go there to get your race number. There is water,
Gatorade and bathrooms at the start line.

Parking: In downtown Jerome, 89A takes a sharp left at the firehouse. Instead of staying on
89A, continue straight. Beyond the firehouse is a large parking area. Nearby is a good location for
spectators. The start is 1.2 miles downhill on the course to the Jerome Historical Museum. Allow
enough time to register in the parking lot then jog down to the 8:00 AM start. Please do not drive
on the course or to the start line.
Spectators are NOT allowed to drive on the course! For the safety and enjoyment of the runners,
please do not drive on the course. The dirt road is narrow and dusty. Stop at the parking lot behind
the firehouse and walk to the first aid station or along the course to watch the runners.
