TREASURER’S REPORT
Due to the absence of Hal Gensler, treasurer, there was no treasurer’s report given.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Niche Wear Concerns: Spira shoes are banned by USATF. We are a USATF club. Board’s current consensus is
to tablereject the Niche Wear proposal pending collection of additional information. Action to be taken:
Steve will check with Bob Flint and Clif McKenzie concerning potential USATF conflicts that could arise
from an ARR/Niche Wear joint venture, and report to the board.

Should ARR provide limited medical services at races to respond to emergency situations? Possible means
of addressing such a need were discussed. Would ARR be more liable for the outcome of participant care by
having medical personnel on site than we are by having the liability waiver signed by participants?
Information: The form for the insurance we currently use covers participants and spectators. The Board’s
current consensus is to continue to alert local fire departments about upcoming events that may require
emergency response. Action to be taken: Steve will talk with Bob Flint to ascertain if there are USATF
requirements and report to the board for future discussion. Membership continues to increase and total
 membership stands at 1652.

OLD BUSINESS
Summer Series #5 -- Course has been measured and will be marked on race day by Robert Huotari. Victory
Lane owner is providing banners for the start and mile markers. Louis is going to confirm that Watermill
will provide personnel and ice to fill the large tub with ice and bottled water.

Louis will get a second tub for us to use on a trial basis for pop. Ian will order an additional 50
 shirts.

Summer Series 2007 -- South Mountain Park will no longer be reserving the park on holidays. The Board
discussed swapping locations of SS#3 and SS#5. Action to be taken: Phil will get information from Victory
Lane relative to availability, cooking facilities and costs involved to stage SS#3 there. Board action
pending this information. Board consensus was to continue discounts to chip owner for club races. Over
1000 club members own chips. Upcoming races/timing services were discussed.

The offer from Tom Matthews for the club to time a high school cross country event Wednesday, September 6,
was declined due to its falling on a workday for Steve.

Jerome Hill Climb race plans are complete. I-Did-A-Run plans are complete. The shirt for the race will be
chosen by participants grab bag style from shirts left over from previous races. ARR will time the Moon
Valley Grasshopper Bridge 5K. Matatzals Trail Run form is on the website. Participants may donate $5 to
Crisis Nursery and $5 to ARR. Bisbee Stair Climb will be chip timed by ARR. South Mountain Classic 20K
permit has been obtained for October 15, 2006. Mad Dog 25K and 50K will be chip timed this year. State
High School Cross Country Championships on November 4th will require the use of 3200 chips and mile
splits for the 1600 runners. Pat’s Run Concerns: We have inadequate number of volunteers to staff 3 days
of packet pickup and race day registration. Sharon will contact ASU to see if they have a service
learning program that could provide volunteers, and report to Steve.

NEW BUSINESS
Ian proposed that the club make a donation to Kenyatta Wilson, the Peoria High School sprinter, to be
applied toward Junior Olympic expenses in Baltimore this week and/or expenses for the World Junior
Championships in China in August. A motion was made and seconded to contribute $250 as ask Kenyatta to
write an article for the Arizona Road Racer after she completes her competitions. The motion carried.
Phil reported that the pastor of the Arrowhead Church would like us to time their Arrowhead Turkey Trot
5K run, November 18. The request was presently declined due to our previous commitment to time the
Rails to Trails race in Prescott. John and Mary Greer offered their thanks for our excellently conducted
Summer Series races, and the Club wants to thank John and Mary for their hard work as volunteers for the
 entire series.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:43 P. M.
